Who am I?

Hi, I’m Kelsy and I am a Body Image and Eating Disorder Recovery Coach, certified through Recovery Love and Care University. I am Health at Every Size and Intuitive Eating informed and I provide care that is inclusive to humans of all gender identities, body types, races, sexual orientations, and religious, ethnic, and cultural backgrounds. Everyone is welcome and deserving of healing. I am committed to helping people ditch diet culture and overcome disordered eating and body image issues. I help clients find food freedom and joy in movement.

Who are you?

Is diet culture constantly trying to convince you that you aren’t enough? Are you tired of spending more time entering food into MyFitnessPal than enjoying it? Are you ready to stop allowing the number on the scale to dictate your mood for the day? Are you sick of hopping from one diet or “lifestyle” to the next? Are you done skipping out on memories because they don’t fit into your diet plan?

Well, then we should chat.

I want to help you change your mentality surrounding food, movement, and body image. Your life is bigger than manipulating the way your body looks and micromanaging your food intake. Comparing your body to curated ideals is exhausting. Eating in strict adherence to a diet is exhausting. Constantly trying to shrink or “tone” yourself is exhausting. These are ways that diet culture exhausts you. I want to help you rest so that you have more energy to create and live the life you love.

What’s my story?

I struggled with disordered eating and body image issues for as far back as I can remember. I remember sneaking ice cream sandwiches in the middle of the night when I was seven. I recall throwing away my lunch every day in middle school. I started constantly body checking in mirrors and by pinching my stomach in high school. In college, I started eating only one meal a day. In my 20s, I carried a scale in my car and weighed myself up to 5 times per day. I stopped drinking water because I was afraid it would make the number on the scale go up. I “ate clean” and worked out to “earn” my food. I tracked all of my food through MyFitnessPal and refused to deviate from my plan. My personal relationships, professional life, and physical and mental health were suffering. I knew that I couldn’t maintain this lifestyle any longer so I set out on my journey to recovery.  I share all of this to show you that recovery is possible even when it doesn’t feel that way.

Now that I am recovered, I have my life back. I have time in my day to work and do things that I love. I have the mental capacity to connect with the people and activities that bring me joy. I have interests, goals, and dreams that do not revolve around food and my body. Recovery freed up so much space for me to grow and live authentically.  Now, my goal is to help others get to this same space of peace and freedom.

Through my personal experience and professional training, I have learned valuable skills to assist others to and through the process of recovery.  Recovery can be a difficult journey and I am here to support you as we learn to navigate through a world entrenched in diet culture. You are not alone. You are more than the food you eat and the body you live in. You deserve freedom from diet culture. You deserve recovery. And I’ve got your back.

Is this therapy?

No, coaching is not the same as therapy. Coaches do not make diagnosis or specifically treat existing diagnosis. Coaching supplemental to your current treatment. It can also be helpful for people who are in recovery but would like extra support to ensure that they stay in recovery.

If I am in therapy, why would I need a coach too?

Coaches can be an integral part of a treatment team. Services such as 24/7 chat access ensure that you will have support whenever you need it rather than only within your appointment time. Coaches focus on helping you navigate your daily life and giving you the strategies and skills that you will need to maintain your recovery long term.
